Why Give to The Intown Chabad?
The Intown Chabad has been serving Young Jews in DFW for over 14 years. COVID served us (and all of the world!) a major blow as our programming has always been socially based. We learned to pivot early on to be able to serve our Young community in this new era. We need your help more than ever to make sure our 2021 is going to be our best year ever.
Check out some of what we've been up to ever since...
- Passover to go Kits - for over 180 young Dallas Jews
- Unorthodox - Intown drew a virtual crowd to discuss the popular 'unorthodox' movie with close to 1000 people signed up.
- Ladies Virtual Challah Bake - Aidy, Mooka and a slew of others took to the kitchen to prep for Shabbat together
- Challah100 - COVID wasn't going to get in the way of our annual Challah bake, so we went virtual!
- Pre-Shavuot Flower Making - Build your own blooms with Intown ladies
- Lag Baomer Global Concert - Zoom concert connecting hundreds of Young Proffesionals's from across the globe in celebration of lag Baomer
- To Heaven & Back - Virtual Lecture on Afterlife and Reincarnation in Judaism that brought together world renown authors Eban Alexander & Dovber Pinson
- Outdoor Shavuot - 10 commandments socially distant in the Intown yard
- High Holidays 2020 - While many of Dallas' shuls remained shut for in person services we found a way to bring together hundreds to pray on the New Year safely. Outdoor, socially distant tent Shul in uptown
- Shofar in the Park - Over 100 Jews gathered (6 ft apart) to hear the shofar on Rosh Hashana at Klyde Warren Park
- Sukkot & Simchat Torah - Dozens attended outdoors in festive celebration!
- Shabbat Kits - Fresh challah and Shabbat candles given out weekly to local young Jews and neighbors. Over 150 kits given out to help our community celebrate Shabbat
- Zoom Classes - Dozens attended various classes given virtually by Rabbis and Rebbetzins
- Zoom meetings - Dozens young Jews reached from all over the states!
- Volunteering - Volunteers assist weekly with meal distribution and Challah baking for Holocaust survivors and seniors all across Dallas #ivolunteer
- Kabbalah and Coffee - Weekly Sunday minyan plus brunch + class
- Babyccino - Moms and tots find a way to gather and play safely in the Intown yard
- Shabbat Services - Taking advantage of the good weather, Intown has kept our doors open for weekly shabbat services, learning and lunch in the Backyard
Overall our 2020 experienced a 35% decrease in Jewish experiences from 2019 while our QOE (Quality of Engagement Score) decreased 25% from 2019. Considering that most in person gathering were severely contained, the numbers show how we pivoted.
We can't wait to better our community with even more innovative programming and creative outreach in the coming year!
